وكالة: صندوق سعودي يتفق على خطة للاستثمار في مشاريع فيرجن للفضاء

الرياض (رويترز) – قال بيان مشترك يوم الخميس إن صندوق الاستثمارات العامة السعودي ومجموعة فيرجن اتفقا على تأسيس شراكة يخطط الصندوق من خلالها لاستثمار حوالي مليار دولار في فيرجن جالاكتيك وشركة ذا سبيس شيب وفيرجن أوربت.

وقال البيان الذي نشرته وكالة الأنباء السعودية الرسمية إن مذكرة التفاهم غير الملزمة تتضمن خيارا لضخ استثمار إضافي في المستقبل بقيمة 480 مليون دولار في “قطاع الخدمات الفضائية”.

وقال ريتشارد برانسون مؤسس مجموعة فيرجن “سيمكننا هذا الاستثمار من تطوير الجيل المقبل من أنشطة إطلاق الأقمار الصناعية وتسريع برنامجنا المتعلق بالسفر عبر الفضاء من نقطة إلى أخرى بسرعة تزيد عن سرعة الصوت”.
